So I had all these awesome pictures to post online with this fun holiday post but none of them are working, and the computer freezes up and goes black every time (have tried it at least a dozen times) and I am done attempting… so here is the post — pictureless (which I hate). ENJOY.

“HOW ‘BOUT DEM APPLES?”

November is the National Apple Month.
All information posted here is from a monthly holiday resource: HERE

When is National Apple Month?
“National Apple Month is a restricted-fund (financially self-supporting) program of the U.S. Apple Association. Originally founded in 1904 as National Apple Week, it was expanded in 1996 to a three-month promotional window from September through November.”

A Slice of Apple Pie
A survey by the American Pie Council and Crisco found that apple pie is the favorite flavor among one out of four Americans, followed by pumpkin, chocolate, lemon meringue, and cherry.

Terminology
The term “as American as apple pie” traces back to 14th century England. The Pilgrims brought their pie-making skills, along with the apple seeds to America. As the popularity of apple pie spread throughout the nation, the phrase grew to symbolize American prosperity.

“An Apple a day helps keep the doctor away”
• The health benefits of apples and apple products were first recorded as early as medieval times, giving rise to the old English saying “Ate an apfel avore gwain to bed Makes the doctor beg his bread” and its more recent variation, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.”

• Apples Provide Whole-Body Health Benefits.

Apple History
“Though some historians are in dispute over exactly who first cultivated the wild apple, many believe it was the Romans who discovered they could cultivate these wild apples into fleshy, sweet, and juicy fruits. Some historians report the apple’s origins were rooted in Southwestern Asia, just south of the Caucasus Mountains between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. Others note that apple seeds found in Anatolia were carbon dated 6500 BCE. Archeologists even found a fossilized imprint of an apple seed from the Neolithic period in England…..”
